Jade in February
Original gouache painting on archival watercolor paper.
6 x 6 inches with small white border.
This was part of the daily painting, Plant Portrait Series of February 2025.
Day 2, painted 2/2/25.
Jade is probably one of my favorite plants, perhaps because it was one of the first I became most familiar with. I have a lot of jade, I have some really old jade now, and I also have a story of losing a big beautiful jade and the heart break and guilt of that.
But for this piece, this was a very healthy happy jade and it “just” had all that back story of jade that went with while I painted this little minimal esque piece.
Some of the pieces in the Plant Portrait series are very color “heavy” and thus different than this piece with white background left, simple lines, paint blocks, and strokes to represent a lot. More watercolor than opaque, the breadth that gouache offers!
Important note:
THIS PIECE DOES NOT COME FRAMED.
These pieces are SHOWN placed in a Basic Box Wood Frame which I love the aesthetic of for the simplicity and minimalist aesthetic. It could be a good choice for your frame. The piece DOES NOT COME FRAMED or in this frame. The picture is so you can see it in a setting but you will get to PYO frame for it! Or ADD THIS frame as an add on during check out.
