Water Thy Self (yellow)

Back story:
A lot of artists seem to not tell their “inspirations” or reveal their reference photos, and I feel to resist that if it is a norm. That doesn’t mean I don’t have mixed emotions as an artist about using other people’s art or not painting from real life, and admitting that. All that to tell you this idea DID come from “someone else’s idea”. While I don’t see flowers growing out of a head as wildly “original” (there are a lot of references and iterations of this visual and the meanings that go with it), it didn’t bloom out of my own head this day without seeing something else first.

I dubbed it: Water Thy Self, and it goes with a lot of the Work I do and Kymology Philosophy around the SELF and SELF work being supreme. My position is less “self care” which is all the rave, and more “self knowing” and selfishness as a good thing. Water Thy Self feels a mix of all that to me, something everyone can relate to.
Water your self, put your mask on first, all that ilk.
I liked this piece so much I made some graphic edits to it and made a STICKER out of it.
