how do you decide what to express?
This topic feels big and difficult, dynamic and hard to pin down with a formula. Maybe I'm approaching it wrong to want that at all. But it is something I am interested in having: a “formula” for WHAT to express. (on making up “formulas” AKA figuring things out)
if it’s authentic, express it
The history on this topic for me is this:
In the beginning of figuring on this, I landed at: AUTHENTICITY. If it's true, if it's "what you really think or feel", if it's authentic express it. And that worked for awhile. It was in the using it that I found the BIG OL' HOLE in it which was this:
There has to be a next level, a next step. Whether or not it's authentic, can't be the deciding factor because you can't possibly express every authentic thing. So “how do you CHOOSE what you DO and DON'T express?” became the question, again.
And “what really matters?” became a sub theme or SUR theme. And this is where I'm at still. (2/10/26)
Sometimes this question comes "back up" in bigger ways. Sometimes it dies down. It depends on what is going on in my life. Are things easy enough and habitual that this question doesn't come up in this big structural way, or has something come along that brings it up again. Big hard thing to figure. It's when some medium to large challenging thing comes along that I come back to this drawing board of - how to decide what to express?
Whether or not to saying anything? Whether or not to tell them? etc and so on.
