orange is jade's new color

$100.00

Original gouache painting on archival watercolor paper.

6 x 6 inches with small white border.

This was part of the daily painting,Plant Portrait Series of February 2025.

Day 18, 2/18/25

Back story:

Another plant in the corner.

Looking at poppy colors and some texture, 18 days in. I’m starting to question my knowledge of color theory a little. I should know what colors to pair and I do, but I also notice myself mistrusting myself some.

Also that I don’t like “how” this one artist I see and have liked her work, does so many backgrounds in teal baby blue. I know is because it’s a good background color, makes things pop, but it also annoys me. One more red wine glass on baby teal pop blue and I’m gonna..

So instead, I do a round with orange and see what I feel.

More jade. I told you I had a thing for jade: Jade in February

Also, the feather is real. Me “decorating” my plant pots with interesting, aesthetic, and meaningful things and baubles, is a whole thing. This particular plant lives with a feather.
