the morning view at night
Original gouache painting on archival watercolor paper.
6 x 6 inches with small white border.
This was part of the daily painting,Plant Portrait Series of February 2025.
Day 12, painted 2/12/25.
Back story:
Another painting painted from a picture I took of a space with plants in it. This is the Morning View, many of you are familiar with as this is the picture I sometimes take that subs in for the selfie style Wake up in Love picture!
landscapes inside:
The 3rd of this type in this series: landscapes inside, roomscapes with plants:
1. “The Plant Shelf has a Space”
2. Everything and The Kitchen Sink
And now this one.
This view felt special and interesting to share. While my audience is relatively small, it is a passionate group, and there are a number of people who are familiar with the Wake up in Love ritual I do.
As I was painting this piece, I thought: how cool to see this! If this was a regular thing I was aware of, of someone I was following, I think this would be pretty cool! Never mind that it’s neat to me alone to paint this thing that has so much context and meaning to me.
It’s also, like the kitchen sink. Felt a pretty unusual of a thing for me to paint. What makes it unusual, is becoming a more and more interesting question. Why wouldn’t I paint this scene?, is starting to tug at me to define.
It felt very not me, and very me, at the same time to be painting this one too.
Check out Write: Plant Portrait Series of February 2025 if you want more story on this piece, including the evolution from landscape portraits to interior landscapes, which was a theme within this Series, as well as the actual reference photo of the view from my wake up spot. You’ll find that here!
Plant Portrait Series of February 2025
I also like the title. I love anything multiple entendre. IE: “Morning at night”
Important note:
THIS PIECE DOES NOT COME FRAMED.
These pieces are SHOWN placed in a Basic Box Wood Frame which I love the aesthetic of for the simplicity and minimalist aesthetic.
